This Great Egret was fishing along the banks of the lake. Its wings look great backlight.

I have never seen a Great Egret that close before, certainly not to get a cracking shot like that. And the lens no where near full length. That lens looks to produce fantastic crisp pictures

Thanks David, the Egret was at an RSPB reserve about an hour from where I live. There are often a large number of Great, Little and Cattle Egrets through the summer months and if you arrive at dawn and wait for the sunrise you can often get quite close as they are concentrating on fishing for breakfast.
