Gone to the dogs

by simonarron

Catford Stadium, south-east London. Once a hub of the greyhound racing community, it closed in November 2003 and the site has yet to be redeveloped. Only the entry turnstiles survive, but it wasn't possible to take shots from that side of the old arena this morning. I attended a few times during the early 1980s, to watch my mate's dog (Straight on John) amble around in its rivals' slipstream. Sad to see what has become of a basic (but buzzing) bygone. Lens: Pentax DA 17-70mm f4.

Think Walthamstow ended up the same way. Sad really.
