Using my K30 in manual mode all the time now, due to the ( aperture, exposure problem) it has allowed me to experiment with old manual lenses recently bought. Most have come from E-bay and second hand shops...I used an old Helios 58mm lens and cheap extension tubes for this particular shot.

Great colours.

I enjoy using manual with the older lenses...back to basics but with the advantage of a digital sensor.

Lovely colours in it
If you have been "forced" into this, you might try a set of equally cheap Russian bellows which will give you a variable length extension. You will get great working distances (and detail) with, for example, a 135mm on the end.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
