A strange-looking beast, but apparently widely-adopted in Europe. Do countries that use it feel it does the job? Just curious, because in North America, the fighter jet procurement process has proven to be a fiasco, with ridiculously large cost overruns on already absurdly expensive planes, and maintenance issues of gargantuan proportions. Smashing picture. Very odd sort of question - does it do its job? The jury is still out over Raptor (U.S.) vs Typhoon (E.U.) superiority.

David---I asked this question because the American F-22 Raptor was awash in performance criticisms from its very first appearance, and not all the faults have been addressed even at this late date. Canadian government has not committed to buying it for this reason, and for the reason of its ridiculously high cost. Instead, they have placed orders for the Super F-18 and continue to debate where they are going to go to buy fighters in volume down the road.

So I wanted to know how the Typhoon actually performs versus the manufacturer's ballyhoo.
