Lens used HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm ED PLM WR RE + Pentax 1.4x TC, although to be fair the Chaffinch was so close the convertor was probably overkill

Now that is a beautiful Chaffinch and the focus is spot on. The K3lll and that lens are amazing, one day I will be able to afford a MK3

Thank you David. The 55-300mm is a great travel lens, maybe not my go to for wildlife generally but perfect when weight and size matter.
The Chaffinches in Madeira are a bit like Sparrows and Robins in the UK, very comfortable around people especially where food is involved. The local Robins by contrast are very people shy
