Deep in the caves

by Weston246

Took this one in Cheddar, with a long exposure tripod mounted. The colours are all natural, caused by mineral deposits in the lime stone. A remarkable place to visit.

I wonder how many years that took to build up?! I visited the caves in Cheddar about five years ago but I didn't colors as dramatic as these. Great result.

Thanks Paul, I think I was one of the first to access the caves this year. It was a very quiet and wet day and I was there as the caves opened, so I had the advantage of being able to use a tripod without getting in anybody’s way. That meant I could use a low ISO as well as shutter speed. That resulted in less grain in the photo, not sure if that helped with the colour saturation, but the colours are a fair reflection of reality. I was very pleased with how it came out. 😊
