Nice variety...we don't see many compared to beetles, bees, wasps, butterflies ...

Pure co-incidence...i received an article via email earlier today extolling the virtues of entomophagy (humans eating insects for food), and apparently crickets are a kind of insect 'superfood'. They taste mildly nutty apparently and are full of proteins and amino acids particularly in demand by athletes and body builders.

Perhaps I should have collected it to eat after photographing it!

Stunning photo, have eaten plenty, Chilli coated, chocolate coated, sugar coated and my favourite, Beer batter coated.

In the absence of a cheese and pickle sandwich they are really good with a glass of light beer or spicy red.

Can never see them on the school dinner menu though.
