Cornwood Maidens

by morpheus71

Late light raking through lofty megaliths at the far end of the vast Cornwood Maidens stone row on Stalldon Barrow, Stall Moor. The Erme valley lies beyond. Wonderful quietude and a truly humbling wild vastness lies beyond, beckoning.

Dartmoor National Park, Devon.

Thanks very much It is a wonderful vast area of the moors, such graceful undulating hills, the hum of wild rivers, rich in the marks of human activities over millennia… serene but powerful all at once.

Great use of shapes and lines Phil! What is that little "nipple" on the horizon?

Many thanks indeed Paul, the graceful curves and lines of Stall Moor are so restful to gaze upon The 'nipple' is a spoil heap from the Red Lake china clay works, which was abandoned in the 1930's - the main pool there is now frequented by hardy wild swimmers.
