I chose this as my winner simply because in my humble opinion it was the best. Incidentally I looked at the bridges photos you didn't enter in last week's competition and I'm glad you didn't otherwise I might not have been judging this week's subject. I'm surprised no one else picked No. 5 as the best, it was my fav. along with No. 2. PS what do you mean when you say you lack confidence in your pictures? I can't think why not.

Why has the owner of the boat used a red lashing (indicating port) on the starboard side of the boat :

I must admit, I thought I was safe entering this week with so many great entries. It feels great to win, but I'm not relishing 'marking' everyones homework

David, I'm not sure why I have so little faith in my photos but I'm the same with everything, I'm a useless businessman because I don't value anything I do, so I let them have it cheap Maybe I need therapy

I am not having you on. When you spend some effort drilling into people that Port is red and Starboard is green (particularly applicable to navigation marks) to have something on the starboard side of a boat that is red could be confusing for novices. More relevant since the boat is a charter boat. I hope this does not sound nitpicking.

I am not brave enough to risk my lenses like this

Having said that I am normally too busy sailing a boat to having any time to photograph anything

Nigel says. 'it's bad luck to have green on a boat' So he doesn't do the colour coding.
Incidentally, I have set up his gallery so that he can make folders and dump a load of JPEGs into each one and his site will automatically display them in TiltViewer (I can't find the thread about image viewers but thanks Matt). He chose the 3D viewer for eye candy rather than sensible navigation! Here's the new gallery
I can recommend the viewers for portfolios, they are highly configurable and easy to set up. (BTW I have no affiliation with them!)
