Cakaloglu Han

by nonur

Çakaloglu Han is a two-story building extending in a North-South direction. It has two entrances, one large door facing South and the other North. The han is an 18. century Ottoman work built with cut stone, rubble stone and brick on a rectangular plan consisting of a large corridor in the middle and 18 rooms (9 on each side). Although the ornate marble fountain adjacent to the South entrance appears to be an independent construction, it was made at the same time with the construction of the han in 1805-1806 during the reign of Selim III.
The municipality has already planned to restore the han to use it as a bazaar for rugs and handcrafts.

Carlo Crivellis Annuniation with St.Emidius,in the 1490's has similar verticals and high vertical POV. Some coloration similarities but this image def. exudes a similar perception. Happy the image was not mono converted. Very special. Thanks, T
