How is this blast proof? Is the door inside or outside the building? Is the blast from inside the building or outside?

This is part of a WWII concrete bunker on the Somerset coast. The hinge is mounted on the outside so that the door opens outwards providing extra strength.

(I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition...)
Best wishes,

Sorry, no inquisition intended, I was just thinking about the direction of forces and compressive/tensile/shear forces on the door and hinge components!

Oh no, my son's an engineer as well... another place where I have to get my facts right!

(No offence taken, just my heavy-handed humour.)
Best wishes,

ROFL best comment today The only problem is I'm trying to recall who said it and in which program/film. IIRC it was a line in Fawlty Towers.

Nice capture of the textures on the door

Nobody expects the Spanish Inq......etc! Looks like the door has taken a bit of a battering though, from the inside!
