Championship quality.

Oh, the light!

View large and get lost in it.

Unusual choice of focal length that works brilliantly here. The choice of aperture is also inspired and the treatment of the light just couldn't be bettered.

Awesome shot.

You could bang on about light, settings & processing, but I think I'll just enjoy this beautiful creation. Like most top 'comp' pics its just got that extra 'something'.

I remember it well from a couple of years ago. A shot I have admired a lot, great light and Constable-esque processing. I always felt the image would be better without the highlights peeking through at the top, although cropping would lose that loveley branch top left, so it's a bit swings and roundabouts. And it has always left me wanting a little more foreground, just a tad more space for the rocks at the bottom of frame. But that's me being ultra picky and obsessed with tha last tiny detail, can't help myself. Great shot.
You can see some of my photos here if you are so inclined

Cheers folks - I agree Adrian - balance at the top has to be as is due to the detail on the left but I've always wanted just a wee bit more at the bottom. Its had the vignette removed since the first version and viewed big as a print it looks quite nice. One I'm happy with. Interestingly two others that I have shortlisted this year were with 105mm lenses (albeit a brand I can't mention here).

It has that feel of a Constable or another of the late 18th/early 19th century landscape painters. It deserves its place on the shortlist.
