Ascent

by Simonmac

One of my last shots (unless a miracle happens), taken today, on my beloved K5iis. Shutter failing to fire....spent the whole day trying everything I know and following advice to try and bring her back...looking at a s/h K70 or Kp.

Nice image. Interesting composition and great b&w tones.

My main DSLR is also a K-5iis, fabulous camera. I hope you may somehow be able to resurrect yours!

Thank you. 11 years young and rather gutted!

I am so sorry that the K5iis has failed on you
The superb photographs from this particular model, that you have displayed on this sight over the recent years will live on.
Best of luck Simonmac, hope and adjust
Regards Flan.

What a terrific juxtaposition of lines, angles and shadows making a fascinating picture.

Sorry to hear about your camera, I hope you get it fixed.

Superb image - it's things like the detail in the railings shadows that set this apart from other "similar" shots, that plus the excellent processing and considered composition!

Losing the K5IIs would be a real blow - I've been fortunate enough to own several Pentax DSLR models, I've used them and then "upgraded" to newer models with more bells and whistles, but I've kept hold of my pair of K5IIs's - they have the nicest feel, rugged construction, perfect size and produce great images. If you keep your eye out for a 2nd hand one you might find a low shutter-count body for a fair price

Well........fingers crossed.

A fellow Pentaxian and a forum thread suggested a last gasp solution....

I thumped the base of the camera several times!

For now, it is alive!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your kind words.

What an excellent shot this is! Sorry to hear about your K5-IIs. I still have my basic K5 which I drag out on occasions and still love it to bits. In fact it's sitting here on my desk listening to my every word so I have to be kind! I wouldn't be otherwise!

Thank you! My 'repair' was short-lived. But today I introduced my retired K5iis to a lovely K3ii.
