A4s to Shildon
by davidtrout
The first two A4 streamlined express locos have arrived at Shildon ready for the line up of all six surviving members of the class later this month. After that two of them will be shipped back to North America and returned to their museums in the USA and Canada.
Yesterday world speed record holder Mallard was towed from York to the Locomotion Museum at Shildon by sister engine Union of South Africa which has been kept in mainline working condition.
Mallard, restored to its original pre war blue livery, is seen here being towed into the museum by Union of South Africa, in late British Rail livery.
