Usually with this type of composition the eye is led to the sharpestpart of the photo- here the eye is led to the unsharpestarea, making it strangely different.

An excellent composition, the depth of field (out of focus area)makes the shot, particularly in black and white, which I have a bias to. Well done.
Not everything in life is Black & White, If only it were!
