A steamy start

Jubilee Class express loco Galatea gets a heritage charter train - The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express - on the move from Carnforth after taking the train over from an electric loco. It was heading for Carlisle and later in the day a return south via the Settle and Carlisle Railway.

I really like the contrast here between this coal fuelled puffer and all those overhead cables for the modern clean at point of use electric trains. The crossing/interconnecting track make a great foreground.
You set up in a good spot.

Love this one. I really like 'busy' railway photographs.

The 'compression' of the telephoto view really gives it some extra oomph too.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
