A light drink

Thanks for the comments. The theory is very simple. The practice, for me, was a case of trial and error until I got a shot that I liked.
To do this compose and focus the picture in normal lighting. Then reduce the lighting so that you can use a long exposure. (This was a 30 sec exposure) I set the camera on a shutter delay. I held a small penlight torch inside the glass and simply 'swirled' it around inside the glass until I heard the shutter close.
I used black card as a background, which made controlling the exposure easier.
