800 years later .....

No city remains static. This is Coventry, UK.
Between the buildings on the left is the 13thC parish church spire and the mediaeval common, where I am standing, has resisted every attempt at change. The trees stand sentinel to the huge Victorian, residential expansion, beyond which rises a 1970s concrete monstrosity. In front of that the cranes are erecting more and more new offices.
