Not wanting to sound like I'm picking here but how much have you played with this shot, apart from the colouring?
I only ask as there seems to be a halo around the trees, just doesn't look right.
Apart from that, it's a great shot

not a lot tbh - the sky has a filter added via Picasa which appears to have returned that effect, I left it like that as I liked the almost eeriness of the scene. Not wanting to sound like I'm picking here but how much have you played with this shot, apart from the colouring?

I'm only using free software so they'll never be as good as they could I guess, iPhoto + Picasa and only taken on an Optio A20 Compact.

It doesn't matter what camera you use, none what-so-ever. The most important thing to remember is that the camera only records what you see, it's you, you have the talent to see and compose the shot.
Ok there are people out there with their big fancy Nikons and Canons but it's a mixture of two things:
1. All the gear and no idea
2. Like I said before, if you have the eye for a shot then that's better than any expensive equipment.
So don't let the fact that you have a compact camera make you think that you can't take great pictures. A pin hole camera can still take great pictures. It's you that took this shot and you are proud of it!
All I was saying is that the halo effect looked a tad odd. It would be good to see the original as well.
But I really like this shot, it's the software and not the camera that has made this effect.

I'll post up the orig this evening (un-faffed with )
This weekend think I've been in a frenzy of 'photo-editing obsession'

Have you ever had a "play around" with Photoshop?

Hi Paul,
No, I'm yet to get my hands on it to see what it can do, well I've seen what other people have done, but want to get my hands on it - the other one I want to try is Apple's 'Aperture', I've heard its pretty good? don't know how true that is though.

This an excellent shot, re-post it without the modifications to the sky, I think it will look just as good

Well-composed shot, I like it but like Rees I'd like to see it without the modifications
