3 Doves

Eurasian Collared Doves are plentiful throughout most of the country except the Northeast. These three guys are sitting on a dead tree beside a stream somewhere - I just can't remember where. They are hunkered down and all fluffed out because the day is chilly. When their feathers are not fluffed, they really look quite smooth and sleek.

I am sure they will get there eventually! When I was a boy these were non-existent here and then during the 1970s I think it was they spread westwards across Europe and are now common. Native doves however have declined greatly, not helped by the Mediterranean people's tradition of trapping and shooting everything flying on their migration routes.
