"Union of South Africa" at Ais Gill
by sportyman531
Gresley A4 Pacific No. 60009 "Union of South Africa" on the last lap of the climb to Ais Gill summit on the Settle - Carlisle line with the southbound "Winetr Cumbrian Mountain Express" on Saturday 16th February 2013. A cloud is forming over the summit of Wild Boar Fell and the light was better here than lower down in the Eden valley.

A lovely picture of a lovely engine in a lovely setting, with a description liberally punctuated with such exciting names: 'Gresley A4', 'Ais Gill Summit', 'Settle-Carlisle Line', 'Wild Boar Fell', 'Eden Valley'.
Tremendous stuff...
