"Flying Scotsman" and "The Lancashire Fusilier"
by sportyman531
After a 10 year restoration the "Flying Scotsman" ran on the East Lancashire Railway over the weekend of 9th - 10th January.
Here it is double heading with Black Five 45407 "The Lancashire Fusilier" and is about to enter Nuttall tunnel.

This is the first action shot I've yet seen of Flying Scotsman since its restoration was completed. Thanks for posting this. I'm planning to catch it on the Settle and Carlisle Railway when its makes its first mainline run in many years in just over a week from now.

It is lovely to see the old girl back on track.....
now all we need is some altruistic Lottery winner to fund the same thing for Mallard.
I love the light in this shot... and the angle you've chosen.
Most people...myself included...
would have probably gone for a head on shot...
and missed this!!

Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

Thanks for that, I did do the front 3/4 shot but I was aware that a going away shot was on so I turned and kept on shooting. The only problem was the large difference between the highlights and the shadows. It is lovely to see the old girl back on track.....

Personally I would like to see the Midland Compound back on the main line but there is probably more chance of a new build than a restoration, probably just above 0%!

The latest news is that there is a brake problem (again!). It looks like 45407 + Galatea are deputising on Saturday, the weather forecast isn't promising anyway.
