Zoom 105 r sticky flaps

I have a problem when I switch on my Pentax Zoom 105 R, the front lens flaps sometimes don't always open fully. Any ideas?

sounds like you may have got some dust/sand in the mechanism. Have you tried cleaning it with a blower brush or jet air?
