Yorkshire Wildlife Park

I went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park with the kids earlier this month, well worth a visit but be prepared for lots of walking as it is a large place.

Hi George, these are a wonderful set of shots and would like to know what you used to capture. Can not see EXIF so can list for me / others please.

Hi Patrick, I had the K3 and DA*300 which from memory was used for all of these shots. (I also had the K5ii and DA18-135 with me but this was used by my daughter more than me)

All processed in lightroom and most will have had a crop in one form or another.

Some beautiful pictures in this set George. But the composition of #2 with it's vertical lines and silhouetted giraffe is just top notch.

Really like these for 2 reasons.

Firstly - they are a fine set of images and totally agree with Barrie.

Secondly - because I have considered taking the kids several times and been put off by some reviews on-line stating that it is small, dirty and not worth visiting.

If these images are anything to go by - will ignore the reviews!

What a great set of images , very hard to pick a favourite as they are all as good as each other. If I had one suggestion it would be that number 12 would imo benefit from the dandelion being cloned out as my eye was immediately drawn to that at the start.

Really enjoyed looking at them though.

beautiful set, 1,2,4 and 6 for me but the whole set stands out as very different to the usual zoo type images. excellent

I must say.....all the animals look well cared for and in good condition

Hi Carl, some people may deem it small if they compare it to a safari park but compared to old style zoos it is large. There was a lot of walking involved particularly if you wanted to catch feeding times / ranger talks etc, various play area for the kids as well. They're building further enclosures for more polar bears (Victor has been retired from the breeding program) Some of the lions were taken on from a Romanian zoo.

I have to say the animals all looked healthy and in good condition. Not sure why someone would say its dirty (lot of dust about from the the paths if its hot and dry) as it all seemed to be well kept. It has expanded a lot from its early days.

The hardest part is trying to get pictures without fencing / people etc in the backghround.



Now you've mentioned it my eyes get drawn to it as well !

These are terrific, George - zoo shots that don't look like zoo shots. I feel a trip to Doncaster looming...

Just superb George, IMO these show what the K-3 and DA*300 as a combination are all about, when placed in the hands of an expert.

I don't think I've seen a better set on here.
