Well the March/April meet never got off the ground guys, what about something for July/August? the evenings are getting longer so we could also consider an evening meet, you may have read in another of my posts we have two new guys at my camera club, they would definately be interested in joining in.

Sounds good although as it is past the 21st of June days are now getting shorter again

Any ideas of where this one would be?

OK guys, evening or weekend?

Evening meet will restrict us to "Urban Photography"
Weekends (daytime) we could visit parks/gardens etc, The Walled Garden at Temple Newsom might be a good bet this time of year, theres always Lotherton Hall if you fancy shoting birds through cages

Weekends give much more time to shoot and anyone who is working won't be quite as tired as straight after work in the evening.

I prefer weekends...

I have no idea where to go though. I was considering visiting Roundhay Park and 'Leeds Tropical World' as I've never been. Saw some good photos from there posted on DPreview forums by a Canadian bloke who was on holiday in Yorkshire a while back.

Greetings, thought I'd throw my oar into the pond. Although I'm a Samsung GX-10 person, I hope that you might not frown on me too much interfering in your Pentaxian ways. I do have a Pentax fil-um camera anyway and use mostly pentax lenses on the S*****g so don't think too badly of me

I'll keep checking back here from time to time to see what you are all up to and who knows, maybe I'll join you if you're organising an interesting event.

Can't say I have any burning desire for photography one way or another.. my landscapes suck big-style so maybe something like that would be good for me.

cheers

Welcome to the forum Ewan, we'll keep you posted of meets through here, but we usually finalise times and dates via PMs so make sure you check those as well.

OK chaps, as the last suggested date never got off the ground due to some old girl reaching 80 (good on her, and may she have many more) and no doubt the lure of a party been too much for Dan (Tyr) to resist, how about a meet on ANY saturday in August?

Suggestions on a postcard please

Alternatively send me £250,000 and three packet tops and I'll send you a slogan of not more than 25 words

Yeah, this weekend has a bleak outlook. So the first weekend in August sounds perfect. Now, is the previously decided location still good or are we changing that?

Dan, saturday 2nd? Tropical World might be a bit hectic, flower gardens at Temple Newsom might be a better bet if you want to stick local to Leeds City.

Dave, are you around? is the 2nd OK?

Week after (the 9th) is better for me but I can do 2nd no problem.

Just to go off on a slightly different tack.

Has anyone ever taken in the Hill-climb at Harewood?
http://www.harewoodhill.co.uk/

I went a couple of times last year and it's a very entertaining day-out. The track-side is very close to the spectators in many places, there's loads of room for photography and you can get up-close and personal in the paddock area.

Lots of opportunities for photography and events are held regularly. I think it was around £10 for the day.

Sounds good to me
with the exception of this coming Sunday I'm OK with any of those dates listed on the website (unless of course the wife decides we should book a holiday)

Good idea Ewan, I didn't even know it existed.

Well, unfortunately for me, I'm without camera at the moment cos the fiddly Anti-shake button on the back shook itself off and the camera is with SS at their service centre (hmm, why did I buy a camera made by the Gestapo?).

As for a suitable date... if you look at the events | Entry lists tab you can get an idea of the types of vehicle are appearing at each event and see what interests you (old/vintage or whatever) My 2p is that David Holden's Alpine Renault A110 is a truly gorgeous machine. He's on the entry list for 24th Aug at the Summer Champ meeting. There seems to be a wide variety of entries for that one; everything from pre-war Austin 7s to TVRs, to single seaters and more.

Then again... the Greenwood Cup (20th Sept) has a meet including the Ferrari Owner's Club and the odd Nissan Micra

Temple Newsome sounds good as well. The 2nd would be perfect as the two weekends after could be problematic as I may be traveling.
