Yet more IR - the weird ones

Today I tried to get some weird other-planet skies, but the clouds weren't particularly interesting. Or if they were interesting they were in the wrong place. However, I did find a tree that had some promise in an end-of-the-world sort of way.

In this one I would have preferred to be without the normal tree on the right, but the sun and shadow dictated precisely where I had to stand:

Wrong clouds but the shadow came out nicely:

In my haste to get the vapour trail in the right place I didn't line up the branch quite right, it overlaps the cloud in a less than ideal way:

And then it just got more weird - I'm not sure what to make of this one. The trees at the top get mixed up with the lower clouds a bit. Works better at a distance:

Who would have guessed that the River Styx flows under the M3?

All Sigma 10-20 at 10mm, 1/180th at f/8. I don't feel that any of these are actually quite what I wanted, mainly due to the clouds not being quite right for the compositions. Since they are at the weird end of the spectrum I thought I'd share them anyway.

Hmmm the last lone looks like a filthy oil slick in some future environmental apocalypse.

Very much enjoying your trip into IR land.

Spent 20 mins at WH Smiths at Piccadilly station yesterday looking/reading through this months lead article in 'Advanced Photographer' on IR. Call me a cheapskate
(in defence, i'd just missed a train ), but (1) I've learned MUCH more about the technique from your posts and (2) the IR photos you've posted over the last couple of weeks make the 'experts' shots in AP look truly 2nd rate.

#2 is the standout from this set.

Stop making excuses on every pic why it isn't quite right!!!!



They are all excellent. Just sit back and enjoy them!!!
