Bought the F one used, in perfect optical and mechanical conditions (exept for the hood that is littttle bit sticky to extract, but rly cannot understand why, as the barrel has not the minimal dent..... boh...anyway, it's just to be 100% precise, its 95% efficient), the barrel has minor little scratches due to its age and normal use.

Bought the FA one NEW, from a private collection. Used it for ...maybe... 20 shots. it's NEW

Wellllll......
I really do not find any difference in image quality between the two models. Rly not... On Pentaxforums reviews you can see the F one has a little bit higher result, but believe me, it's the same lens...

Agree, that optically they are the same. my preference is more based on built type (not even quality) of F series v FA series.

So now I only need some one selling me one of these beauties

Mmmm to be honest, both are made of metal, and the FA one seems to be made with a higher quality. And the FA's focus ring is rly wider and way simple to use.
Of course, IMHO.

The FA is possibly the most butt-ugly lens I have ever seen. If the optical quality is the same I'd go for the F.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

As said, it is not matter of quality, rather than personal preference of build type

Somehow I share the feeling, but I have no choice then of course i would go for FA, as optically it delivers what I need, and that's what matters the most

Sounds promising so I like F, you like FA - the only thing that's missing is the deal

I am happy, you are happy and what's most important - your wife is happy
