Hiya,

Will shortly have saved up enough for one of these. Please let me have one to post in the UK.

Thanks!

Good hunting, it's a great lens... It'd take a 31mm Ltd for me to consider parting with mine...

Great lens same wouldn't sell unless I got a 31mm

If you read this entire thread, and weigh up the cons pointed out.. you still might consider it if you are keen for a 35mm f2

Yes... gd luck with your search... Having recently been on the hunt for one of these, I reckon anywhere around the £220 mark for a vgc used copy would be a good deal... possibly a bit more... they come up quite regularly on the other forum... then it's a question of tax/postage etc...

Worth pointing out that there's a Samsung rebadge for this lens - might make your search a bit easier, perhaps save you a bit of money:

Thanks, useful info. I would rather buy second hand, but will consider this if no offers by the time I get the money.

I would also consider the Samsung version. People have speculated the coatings are different, but I have seen no evidence for this, and to be honest, I would be surprised if this is true. Anyone know more?

Are we all agreed the FA is worth the extra money over the DA/L version?

IMHO I would not pay the extra money for the FA 35 2.0 (which is quite a lot of extra money).

First of all, if it is true that the DA is a repackaged FA, that explains the stellar performance. Have a look for instance here

Second, also the FA is a plastic lens, nothing like limited lenses. So also from that point of view there would not be a great difference...

I add here John Riley's review of the lens...

I would buy the DA 35 2.4 and see how you like it.

I'm bumping this. giofi, I don't like a lot of the shots I've seen with the DA35 - largely to do with the rendering of colours I think, I find them over saturated for my taste. I also shoot film, so I want to have the aperture ring.

I'm still looking!

There're a few on ebay at the moment... Mostly Japanese sellers so you might get hit by customs but if you budget for that then jobs a good 'un... And it might just slip through without being hit by charges...

One went on eBay yesterday for £218, I missed the end of the auction

Hmm, yes I've considered that but 20% VAT is a lot. It brings a £250ish lens up to about a £300 lens, and that's a big difference.
