I have not been taking many pictures of late, something I intend to rectify, but here is one I took at work a couple of weeks ago.

Really like the shot and how it's lid.
Maybe if you took a bit wider angle so that you had the full "crane" in the shot and what's he working on, things might have been even better.

I like it as well, technically very good, it does leaves me wondering exactly what the work is - and how you managed to keep the 'workers' still for 4 second exposure

I agree. I like it too, the spotlights from (i guess) the diggers at intermittent points along the line give a good effect. It reminds me a little of some 'industrial' looking HDR shots in the pentax magazine a couple of issues ago.

Thumbs up from me too, love the lighting and the high degree of atmosphere you have captured.

Thanks for the replies.

Anvh - for you a wider angle shot below

haydnw - I hadnt briefed the subjects to stay still and so it took about 30 exposures to get the shot.
The work here is drilling 3 metre holes in which steel anchors are grouted in place and then rockfall netting installed.

The wider shot is in my view much better - technically good and tells the whole story

thanks,

Nice shot, but I'm not sure about the colour balance. It seems a bit green to me. I'd go for more yellow.

Hi Steve,

I like the wider shot showing the whole of the front crane including the end with the tool on going in to the mud its a good capture.

As a personal preference I would like to have seen some motion blur from someone moving in the picture, (just my preference of course).

Well done.

Thanks

George, yes you are right, the second wider image suffers from it particularly which I put up in a hurry and hadnt noticed.

The first image has been processed, i dont think the second has, or very little.

I really like this, I'm not usually into man and machine unless it's the two wheeled variety but this works very well, top bombing.

Neat shots - but the second is definitely better. (Not sure why you opted for the first... erm, first). I'd straighten it a little, though. It is amazing how sharp the man is in both, given the long exposure.

Your right dr Mhuni, very careless of me I hadnt noticed it was not straight and it seems nobody else had unless they were being polite.

Note to self: Straighten image

I put the first one up first because it was already 800px wide jpg so didnt require any time.
