Wireless or tethered mode?

Now that the K10D has support for wireless flash, I was wondering if there was any advantage to connecting the 360/540 using a 5P cable or does wireless do it all?

On a related note, is it possible to control 2 360/540's using the built-in flash or will it only control 1?

Apologies if this is in the manual, but I couldn't find it

Tethered: auto zoom operates, supports HS mode.

Wireless with popup: yes, multiple flashes are no problem (I use a 360 and 540 together). HS not supported.

One flash on body, one remote: supports HS mode.

If you're shooting outdoor portraiture, then tethered is preferable for fill in flash (because you can shoot HS). For all other uses, pop-up wireless is just fine!

(Just remember to set the flash guns to "Slave 1" mode = intelligent P-TTL slave )

I only use off-camera flash for macro, so lack of HS is no problem for me and given the high cost of tethering, I think I'll stick to wireless

I was onedering if anyone has been able to fire a Sigma flash wirelessly without the pop up flash going off?

Whether the popup fires or not is not down to the remote flash gun

If you have the *ist-D or K10D using wireless commands, then there is a custom menu option to use the pop-up as a controller only.

If you are trying to use any of the others - you can't turn off the pop-up. You can only use flash exposure compensation to reduce the effect of the pop-up.

"Wireless" doesn't mean radio. The remote flash is controlled by a burst of little flashes from the RTF or body-mounted flashgun. It's a bit like Morse code on a torch, but much quicker.
