Wide open meyer Optik Primotar 135

Well, almost wide open in some cases at f5.6 instead of 3.5. You always hear about Trioplans and their signature bubble bokeh but not so often its big cousin, the Primotar - which comes in 50, 135 and 180mm. (The 50mm can be very expensive because it was only produced for two years). When handled appropriately, they can produce a bokeh every bit as interesting as a Trioplan. We got a bit of sunshine today so I put mine on the K1 and and just used a wide aperture.

2. Good thing she doesn't try it with this Berberis. This one doesn't take prisoners!



3. Lots of catkins on the silver birch - both male (droopy ones) and female (short erect ones).



4. Aspen catkins photographed against the light. The bokeh is a huge bare branched oak tree about 100feet distant.



5. A dreadful photograph (?) but certainly some of the wildest bokeh I have ever produced.



6. Slightly more pedestrian cherry blossom.



7. And finally, one that is pure and simple bubble bokeh alongside the brook.



Not the easiest of lenses to use but it does make interesting images.

That's certainly a wide selection of Bokeh presented here - some rather pleasing, others a little distracting I do enjoy your dedication to showing the qualities of some of these older lenses David

Lovely images indeed from a hidden gem of a lens that IMHO equals if not betters the triotar. I can't swear to that of course as I don't have a triotar to compare it with. I do have the 135mm Primotar though and I love it. I'm also fortunate to own two copies of the really lovely little Primotar 50mm f2.8 zebra pod version of its smaller sibling which can produce equally lovely results. I suppose I should sell one... maybe perhaps...!

PS Simon's UTAK (on Youtube link ) describes it as one of his best worst lenses.
