Well, i can't afford another lens so I have devised a cunning plan...
I can 'convert' my 18-55 to a 10-47 by just sawing off 8mm!
where should I saw, front or back?
Don't saw it off the lens, silly - machine the mount down by 8mm. That'll bring the whole lens closer to the sensor, and you'll still be able to attach filters, or indeed a teleconverter for a very handy 20-94.

Thanks Chris! A bit of Gaffa tape to hold my lens together and I'll get busy with the angle grinder. Teh only other grinder I have is for coffee and the camera won't fit in.justgetoutandride wrote:
