I took these yesterday in sunny Whitby and wondered what people thought about the three diferent versions?

Hmm, sorry to be fussy but I think the 2nd version, but with some cropped off the left (say up to the edge of the abbey) and some off the top (about halfway between the top of the abbey and edge of the frame).

That's what I'm looking for, feel free to alter it if you would like.

I think perhaps something like this?

Yeah, I like that. What does everyone else think?

I had number one picked, but I think Tim's is better. maybe because the abbey is not central? I love the colours in all of them

Tim's edit is good for me as well Andy - you picked a very good morning. Love the frozen pond too.

I certainly concur regarding Tim's edit; but that's not to diminish Andy's work - good shots those!

Though I have to say I do think all the images are perhaps a little too oversaturated.

And here's a thought: Worth doing a B&W conversion?

3 very nice shots, the first 2 give a sense of remoteness even though Whitby is just down the hill.
C&C welcome.

I can see each of the three being strong for illustrative uses, each with a differing 'feel' of attached text.

I didn't like to be the first to point this out...

Definitely, I'd say. It would tone things down and the strong colours would actually benefit a conversion.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks for those comments folks, I like the crop as well.

I am going to have a go at a BW version later so will post that then.

The colours are very vibrant but I have not done anything to them PP I think it must have been the light.

It does make me think it's not worth taking a picture if the light is not right as that is what gives an image the wow factor.

Well here are three different attempts at a black and white version. I am not sure any of them are any good so will be interested to see what people think and why.

The blues are the issue in the colour version, they don't look natural. Perhaps just adjust the saturation a little? Or selectively turn down the blue?

I only have one problem with Tim's crop and that is I have seen it before on picture postcards etc.! There is something to be said for trying something a little different.

I'm afraid I don't like the BW conversions. The first is the best but needs a bit more punch, the second looks a little odd (like a BW HDR image), the last one is too harsh. Sorry.

Having said all that, they are nice images and worth playing with to get them "right".
