I have been looking at these two versions of this image and can't decide which I prefer. Which one do you prefer?

Instantly Number 2 but overall Number 1
Why?
Number two creates an instant hit, but has no foreground or real depth ( sky looks Great)
But I found when I was looking at 2 I was drawn to mentally enquire much more about the foreground and more over the angle of the depth of the foreground mirrored the angle of the depth of the sky - But then again I do read the Beano so don't worry to much about both are based on great composition

We are used to Golden Mean proportions, so most people would expect to like No 2, and would find the square shape of 1 to be a bit unusual.

But despite this, I prefer No 1, and for similar reasons to Conexus (Beano notwithstanding). No 2 feels a bit flat. No 1 appears to have more depth, and is therefore more interesting.

No 1 leaps out as being far more pleasing
