Hi I am looking for a decent small pentax compact camera. i am after two things, small size and good picture quality. The rest like zoom capabilities, fancy look or extra functions are not really relevant. Is there something there for up to £100. I would consider second hand as well.

Thanks

There are plenty of good models that will be under £100 second hand. I would look for the 750Z, i10, WG9, although many others are not bad either.

New ones? Check out the SRS and Park websites and you'll get a good idea of the current range. Check out Amazon and you might find a few good surprises from time to time.
Best regards, John

The Q is almost within your budget right now, and the MX1 looks worth stretching to if you possibly can! The cheaper Pentax compacts image quality looks rather so-so compared to Sony, Canon etc but the Q or MX1 will beat them all!

I'd say save a little longer and get a Q. Or head to your nearest asda and see what they have on offer. Though a quick search found THIS.
One day you'll find, 10yrs have got behind you.

However good the Q is, with a standard zoom surely it can't really be described as a "small compact" camera, by comparison with e.g. an Optio?

It must surely be the smallest digital 'Compact System Camera' but yes there are smaller compact cameras. I've just paid £59 for a spare Q from SRS (ex demo) so whatever one's thoughts of the Q are that just has to be terrific value. The smaller compacts are often let down with a somewhat poorer picture quality and lack of RAW files.

... with the 01 lens it seems pretty petite!
