What is KT6? Why is the 2X A without SMC marking?

Why not buy a 1.4x or 1.5x AF one, it will work perfectly well in MF?
Plenty to choose from and relatively cheap.

a 1.5x or 1.4x is ideal, just losing one stop. but it's hard to find one for pentax with a good optical design. F 1.7x seems really nice, but the price has gone up the roof.

Teleplus, (Kenko) 1.5x are very respectable IMHO, various clones on the Teleplus design exist.

MF in the heading, does that refer to Medium Format?

In this case I think he means "manual focus" as in the "mflenses" forum. As acronyms go MF is one of the more ambiguous ones.
I wonder if there is a mfmflenses forum....

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Spot on.
I did see one of pentax x1.4 for sale on ebay. it ended around 60 quit. it's marked with SMC or in PKA as far as i remembered.
Pentax used to have some 'takumar' lenses, which were the cheaper alternatives and the optical quality were not in line with the SMC versions.
