No 2 for me Scott. No1 is the classic Squirrel shot I've seen a thousand times on various forums etc, No 2 is different and a bit more interesting in my opinion.

Scott - nice photos. The first does have the problem of being "just another squirrel pic" IMHO. The second is very engaging. The problem I have with it is composition. The squirrel is looking out of the left side, which leaves an uncomfortable gap on the right filled by an OOF branch. But I can well imagine that time was not on your side and you don't want to lose the tail!

Scott, sorry I didn't mean to sound rude with my somewhat candid appraisal of your shots, but that's how it came accross and so I appoligise for that.

The point I was trying to make is that, to me, they just look like pictures of squirels.

Number 2 for me Scott. Both are great but just like some of the members commented the first one looks a common pose of the squirrel and the second one wins because of the out of the ordinary pose and also the eye level shot of the eyes. Oh and the background looks good on that and I prefer that rather than the grass.

So, you going to enter any squirrel picture competitions? do tell us why you wanted to know, or was it just out of curiosity that you wanted our opinion and to see if your view also matched with the majority?

The second for me as well. When photographing these guys I like to get down to their level.

I m my local park, they are very tame and I like to get as close as possible, although sometimes they get too close...

(Just in case ur wondering this was taken with my Panasonic fz7 on wide angle, not my 150-500mm! And yes the nose is touching the lens!)
Having been biten by one of these, I think I would prefer to stay further away

Scott,

Sorry its late. Bad day yesterday. I prefer no2 also. Its a much more interesting photo and I think the grass background in No1 makes the image harse and detracts from the picture.
