The capacity of all batteries gradually deteriorates with age. If Ni-Cd batteries are often "topped-up" before they are exhausted they do suffer from a "memory" effect which reduces their capacity further. Mi-Mh batteries are much better in this respect. Is it true that NiCads have a "fully charged" level memory as they get older where as NimH batteries can be charged to full capacity for their lifespan?.
Whilst the odd top-up doesn't hurt, I do try to ensure that all batteries are fully discharged and then fully charged on a regular basis if possible.

I haven't noticed any problems with my Uniross charger.
The eneloops aren't so expensive that you can't risk it and see if your charger is OK.

I use my Sanyo (Eneloop) charger to Eneloop, Energizer and Ansmann batteries. No problem so far.

I have used this link Maha charger for the past two years on my Uniross Hibrios, bought it direct from Maha. What I like about it is that there is no guessing the batteries condition, you have all the status info you need. I've used the same LSD batteries for two years and they still recharge to within 95% of their stated capacity.

Wow! they both look like perfect gadgets for all of us.
The idea of resurrecting and matching all the odd batteries lying around is brilliant if it works.

The matching works very well, you end up with stickers all over the batteries with numbers and codes so that you can keep them in matched sets. THEN at some time you snatch a battery from a set in a panic situation and undo all your good work.

I use the Hahnel 2700 mAh batteries. They give me up to 700 shots per charge on my 360 FGZ which is a battery eater. I am sure they will perform fine in your Metz.
2x K10D bodies, 2x FA 28-200 3.8-5.6, DA 18-55, A 50 F2, 50mm Macro, 360 FGZ. Still saving for the 60-250 DA* Also have a Z10 35mm and a K1000 just for fun. IF PENTAX IS THE ANSWER, WHO CARES WHAT THE QUESTION IS...!
