Thanks for reply.
Obviously there's not many users on the forum that get lenses serviced!

Generally, lenses don't need much servicing, but I expect that now they include so much electronics and also the various motors that you have a point.
I would have thought every three years would be adequate, but I suspect the manufacturers advise every year, certainly if weather resistance is to be guaranteed.

While it may well make sense for professional photographers to have their tools of trade serviced regularly, I like most amateurs adopt the philosophy of "if it aint bust don't fix it".Generally, lenses don't need much servicing, but I expect that now they include so much electronics and also the various motors that you have a point.

I endorse the recommendation of JP Service Solutions who are the official Pentax service agents. They are nice people to deal with and respond promptly to emails and phone calls.

Funny enough Pentax here say the weatherselaing don't need any servicing.
The representative was in the shop where i always come and i was there by luck so asked him.
The SDM motor however work on friction so they will surely wear down over time.

I can't speak for the modern stuff but from my Camera shop days I can never remember a lens being brought in to be serviced. Fixed if dropped perhaps or cleaned if dropped in the sand!
