where are the birds

Plenty of other food for wild birds at the moment. They are enjoying the berries in my garden and ignoring the feeders.
It has been a bad year for insects being so wet and cool through the summer after a very warm dry spring.

I counted 25 sparrows at my feeder this morning, the seddums(i think) are full of hoverflies and wasps, the butterflies are regular visitors but I think in fewer numbers than previous years.
Think we have plenty of life in the northwest; my birdfeeder can go from full to empty in 6 hours. we have regular visits from a hedgehog, and have spotted a field mouse under the feeder.

Like it every year here around harvest time. They all disappear as there is plenty of natural food about

I've got Blackbirds on the Rowans,Goldfinches on the thistle heads,spuggies and Chaffinches in abundance,Thrushes on the snails in the garden,a profusion of Hedge Sparrows and wires full of Swallows and Martins!.....what more could you want?...one of the benefits of living in the country!

I've just had a Phoenix rising from the ashes of the bridges I've burnt I've got Blackbirds on the Rowans,Goldfinches on the thistle heads,spuggies and Chaffinches in abundance,Thrushes on the snails in the garden,a profusion of Hedge Sparrows and wires full of Swallows and Martins!.....what more could you want?...one of the benefits of living in the country!

My resident blackbirds and sparrows disappeared with the heavy
rain a few weeks back. Only seen pigeons and magpies plus a
few blue and long tail tits since. Hopefully they have moved
to where the weather is better.

I've just returned fromMartin Mere, and the birds were a bit thin on the ground. However, there were plenty of pigeons around the feeder hides.

I think they must have been just scared off whilst you were there.
I was there about 10 days ago and there were loads of them on the

It seems the birds have done well round our way this year - lost of young Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Blue Tits, Great Tits etc.
Our feeders get emptied at a rate of knots!
