Decided to sell my Pentax A* 300mm f2.8 but not really sure what to ask. I know prices have risen in the last 6 months or so but not having seen one on Ebay for a long time I'm at a loss to its current value.

May offer it to SRS (I believe they will sell for a percentage) or just stick it on Ebay (but prefer to set a BIN price as fees are less).

Its in pretty good condition with a few marks to the body but elements are clean and it comes in a Pentax metal case.

There is one buy it now on ebay link
If you had not found it already.
When looking on Pentaxforums.com that price seem to be it these days, of course it's depending on how badly someone wants it and don't know if it's the right month for the lens to sell it to be honest.
You might get more around spring when people go outside again to shoot.

ps. simply thinking out loud here and I might be very wrong though.

Good thinking Stefan, I think I may hold back a few months.
I did see the auction but thought he was being a bit greedy tbh.

On the other forum someone said he paid $2.700,00 1.5 years a go so you should be getting at least that for it and probably getting close to the $3.000,00 since the recent price raise, if I should make a guess.

The lens is pretty rare so you should be able to ask a bit more then standard I believe, so the 3.250,00 the other guy is asking is reasonable but high.

Don't know how Ebay works but if you could put it up like he did (buy it now) and then wait till spring if it hasn't sold you can make it in an actuation.
Since he is also the only guy around you and him can make the standard price a bit high.
So if you make it the same price or slightly beneath it that would be the standard price so if people look they will regard it as normal.
So when you put it into an actuation people might be willing to go further.

Don't know if that's cheating or not?

You don't want that heavy old thing hanging around taking up space, Mike. I'll happily take it off your hands for a few quid, as a favour you understand...

I'd love to try that lens out.

I can't ever see me buying one though. That is a whole heap of wonga!
