What would be the K30D?

Full frame - don't disagree - although a 'me-too' full frame might just help in the hype stakes (perhaps with some big white lenses?) and might be transferable to a MF/LF "Pentelblad"

Live view - would get on my nerves (either looking at it or just paying for it!)

Pentax' biggest marketing problem is the don't change the lens fittings often enough - no built in redundancy; they only sell things once

I think the fact that pentax lenses from the70s are still usable today is a major selling point.
Look at all the old canon lenses that are useless, they don't fit anything!

I say keep the trusted K-mount and release more sonic motor lenses to get the price down, maybe a 'standard' 'sonic lense?

I think the K30D will be a full frame camera sitting above the K20D in the range.

Improve the live view as a selling point mainly and thus end up with a 4 camera range.

If the 20D's live view can't be improved via software then introduce a K25D at the same time with minor enhancements to software etc.

That's a BIG plus and selling point. Being able to upgrade bodies without worrying about lenses is a huge asset.

Yes, no built-in redundancy is good for us;
I have three 20-40 year old Pentax' (ME/MZ/67) that still work
I have not needed to buy any new lenses - what I had are excellent
When I bought my K10 I only bought the body (because I had lenses already).
So they've had £500 from me in 20 years. Canon 'fans' pay that every year
I'm hoping some Hoya money might be put into more lenses too.... 6FA's against 20 D's doesn't seem fair (might put one of those 'Limiteds' on the list though )

Limited's are on my list too.. especially since I have the Silver D200D - would look lovely with a 77 limited.

Agreed plus 100% view finder, so you don't need use live view.

K30D list:

SAFOX IX AF with centre F1.2 sensitive sensor F2.8 for the rest. This should include a more sensitive AF module and better focusing algorithms to improve speed and accuracy. 3D tracking would be nice but you would need a lot more focus points.

Improved 14MP CMOS sensor from Samsung or a 16MP version, for marketing reasons, a step over CaNik.

Multi exposure mode which works with and at the same speed as continuous shooting.

Shooting mode lever.

Same body as K10/20D for compatibility with accessories.

640x480 screen (Like D90/D300, etc). My phone has one, why can't my camera!

EM shielded components (Cheap and easy to do, current Pentax cameras have NONE!).

I would say a better viewfinder such as 100% but, this is not possible with SR as the sensor will move outside the viewfinder area (it already does) and the alignment would be worse!

Does it really matter? if it follows the pattern and innovations of the K10/20D than it will be another winner for Pentax, however I wouldn't expect too much, I think Pentax are far better off keeping the prices low and offering the best value for money than venturing into some of the wallet busting suggestions weve had (full frame for instance)

I'm sure Pentax will surprise us with at least one new feature but predicting what this will be is almost impossible.

Actually, I still want a 645D! A decently priced digital MF camera would be fantastic.

You may get your wish, Pentax have just applied for a patent referring to medium format cameras, so keep them crossed

There is already an upgrade for this......its called a film scanner

Indeed, I wonder if Pentax will, rather than going for a full frame 'pro' camera instead say Pro = Medium Format and slot a camera than can beat the CanNik pro cameras by offering vastly better images in a package overall of comparative size.

Sadly most of what they have to do is not what we the photographer wants but more what the marketing man needs. Just a tick box exercise to keep up with Nikon, Canon and Sony.

I suppose a video mode will need to be included now Nikon (D90) and Canon (5D II) have started that ball rolling. And Panasonic will also have it on their next round of DSLR updates. Which almost certainly means Olympus won't be far behind. So Pentax can't afford to let that slip.....even though very few end users would want it.

They need to sort the Live View. The K20D has the worst implementation of Live View on the market, so can't let that go on. Again, not sure how many of us end users really give a whats it about Live View but hey ho.

I suppose the megapixel count needs to upped. 14mp is so yesterday now. I've only just made the jump from 6mp to 10mp and even then wasn't fussed about the extra mp. But the marketing man loves mp's. Just a shame most people couldn't afford a lens to make the most of their mega sensor.

On a serious note the continuous shooting rate looks a bit pedestrian compared to the D90 and 40D/50D.

I think their cameras are top notch but potential buyers demand the latest gizmos and i'm not sure how much they care about a sealed body.
