I have been offered an SMC F.3.5-4.5 17-28 lens and a FMC F 1.7 AF adapter. What would I expect to pay? The seller is expecting me to name my price. Can anyone offer me advice on these items, please

I bought something off a forum member recently, and the price was not at all obvious. I looked on ebay to get a starting figure and we negotiated from there.

The 17-28 fisheye is quite a rare lens. I''ve never seen one for sale. The 1.7 adapter can go for as much as £250.00.

Thanks, George. The fisheye is a puzzle. I have read a review that states it is a deffinate fisheye, yet when I try it out there is not much evidence of any distortion, just a slight drunken appearance to the lamp posts. Don't have much idea, though. Thought it might be a useful everyday lens. Have seen one advertised at over 200 dollars. Have offered £50 quid. Would that be a bargain?

If you're using it on a DSLR, you won't see the full fisheye effect as the sensor is smaller than the 35mm frame the lens was designed for.

£50 just for the lens or for the converter as well? Either way, probably a bargain (definitely if it includes the converter! :lol.

Did you try it on a DSLR if so the reason you don't see much distortion "fish eye" because it was make for 35mm and not a cropped sensor.

How strange, That's a series F lens in an FA body.

Less strange than you might think - there is a definite style overlap between the F and FA lenses and this lens is not the only one.

Thank you for your comments. What would I do without this site!! Yes!! I did try it on a dslr and could not understand the results. I now see that the dslr is the reason. I am offereing £100 for the pair. Not sure if I will keep them but I am sure there will be interest if I decide to pass them on. regards Thoramay.

Let's hope the seller doesn't frequent this forum. The 1.7x AF converter is worth at least £200 on its own, depending on condition of course.
