What lurks in your garden?

Meet Spike. I've shown a pic of this guy before. These were taken with my twin flash rig. I did try to get a more interesting pose but my spider was camera shy. Every time I got into position, the darned thing moved.

I've included this pic as it might help somebody to ID it. Somebody here thought it might be a species of crab spider. Total body length, excluding legs, is about 1.5cm. He sits on and under flowers and waits for his dinner to arrive by air, then pounces.

I don't know what species (s)he is but I like the photos! The top-down one (#3) stands out for me because of the strong colours. Also, the way the 8 eyes look like a skull reminds me of some futuristic death-robot straight from a Manga cartoon. Probably the way his prey see him in the here and now in fact!

Pretty sure it's a Green Lynx Spider, or a close relative. Think that first page was a hoax!
