What does this fit?

I wanted an angle finder for my MX/K110D super and I bought this on eBay. The seller stated it fitted pentax cameras from the eighties on.
It doesn't! Does anyone know what it does fit, when it was made and can I get a new adapter to fit my cameras?

That looks like one of the finders to fit the earlier cameras like the Spotmatics to me - you could probably fashion your own adaptor from a thin strip of aluminium or steel but I doubt you'd get a full view of the viewfinder (including all the shooting info along the bottom) from what I understand.

I saw a lot of these on ebay and gave them some consideration before deciding to buy the Seagull angle finder instead (genuine Pentax units to fit the later cameras are quite pricey, even second hand).

I think your seller either made a mistake or was genuinely misleading - hard to tell really...

When questioned he said it fitted "M series cameras onward". So he must have made a genuine mistake!

It is indeed the finder for a Spotmatic

It will also fit a K-series camera (KX, KM, K2, K1000).

Pentax changed the width of the fitting with the M-series cameras (making it a bit bigger).

The width has remained unchanged since though, so you can use M-series and later accessories on the digital bodies (I use an M-series finder myself).

Apparently the Olympus OM finders fit Pentax as well, although I've not tried this personally

I think I see slot-headed screws there, which leads me to think that it may go as far back as the original Spotmatic.

Like Reuben, I agree that it is definitely for the Spotty series.

Put it back on eBay with the correct description and I'm sure it will sell.

Good Luck with finding one that fits!

I've been in the Pentax fold for only 7 months now and already I can identify Asahi equipment made 30+ years ago. I don't know whether to be proud or scared!

Excuse my ignorance, but what angles does it find and where do you fit it to the camera?

A more decriptive title for it should be "Right-angle view finder". It fits to the view finder and allows you to look down from above (or each side or underneath) and see the image in the camera viewfinder. Very useful for example if you have the camera on a tripod with it pointing up at the moon. I'm not as supple as some people and doing the contortions to keep getting down and look up in the normal view finder is uncomortable after a bit!

I'm afraid It fits everything prior to the M series camera. You'll just have to ebay it again
