what are T2 mounts used for?

I have one (which didn't sell on ebay). Are there any (good) lenses that I may one day acquire which need this adapter?

It's highly unlikely that you will ever use it for a lens, but a slide copier might be a possibility.

Isn't it possible to use one on a binocular microscope? I have been thinking about trying to find a T2 to see if it would work with the DS and my micrscope i acquired a while ago.

The Russian Peleng 8mm fisheye and MTO 1000mm lenses use T2 mounts.

They're both really good performers for what they cost

Indeed, and there will be others too.

Valid point, although I think "highly unlikely" is probably fair as well!

Thanks for that (8mm and 1000mm). Any other lenses come to mind? I suppose I won't bin it, in any event.

Isn't a T2 mount used to connect to a reflecting telescope? I have a 9" reflector and keep meaning to get round to seeing if I can connect an SLR to it.

I think you need an eyepiece adapter for that. Alternatively you can project the image into the camera lens, but that sounds as if it might be tricky to get right.
