What a shake Reduction

OK, so the image is nothing. But, having had to switch from a K20D to an X-5 (health reasons) I was curious to see just how good the SR really was.
The pigeon was 25 feet away, shot through double glazing and with the zoom run out a long, long way.
it was so long that I could not frame the bird in the monitor (serious L/H tremor( and had to rest one elbow on my desk and use the EVF. When I looked at the image with Photo-me, I saw that the lens was at the 35mm equivalent of 580mm.
I would never have tried such a shot with a 35mm camera, so the way that the SR on the X-5 has worked has me blown away. It gives me a lot of confidence for the future.

Absolutely, SR is a wondrous thing at long focal lengths. I was taking family portraits on a beach recently with the K7 and Tamron AF70-300, at the 300 end, getting 'speeds' of around 1/125th - 1/200th sec with no concerns about sharpness at all. I swapped places with my wife, who has never shot with a telephoto before ... She complained about the images jerking all around in the viewfinder. I told her to just concentrate on getting the AF nailed on my eyes and not worry ... Sure enough, when she saw the actual images she was amazed, and said that with all the wobble shed been seeing, she was sure the photos would be awful ... But they were pin Sharp!
