Wet Dandelion Seedhead

Two photos of a wet dandelion seedhead that came very close to being squashed beneath a wellington boot this afternoon while hunting the dreaded bindweed . But I spotted it in time and, as I wasn't yet covered in mud, a quick trip indoors to grab the camera was in order. Both taken with the K3iii + Irix 150mm f2.8 macro at f3.5. The shots differed only in the point of focus.

So which do you prefer - focus on the highest tips of the feathery bits or on the 'pin cushion'?

Wow, both of them have very different character so they're both great. The first probably wins out since the OOF bits on the second are slightly distracting.

Really smooth transitions from in focus to out of focus.

For me it is the second image, focusing on the "pin cushion" has given the image greater depth. I don't mind the out of focus areas.
I have a copy of this lens and the results (from the lens, not my photography!) are always superb

They both have their merits but I would go for the first one because of the potential to zoom in even closer to those lovely droplets.
