niblue: no definition, DOF very shallow and not sharp, camera movement? shutter speed too slow? no colour so little clue as to what it is. (apart from the title)
Excellent - that means the shot turned out just as I wanted it.

Wow, my first win, thank you very much. It was not a composite image, just 3 fish on a large bloomer cut lengthways and toasted. It was cropped heavily though, as I thought that provided the more pleasing image.
I thought I might get excluded on the grounds that it wouldn't get your taste buds flowing, raw mackerel on toast not being too appetising !
I will get my thinking cap on and come up with next weeks competition late today.
Thanks again, and congratulations to all who took part.

Well done pschlute. I like the contrast in colours between the mackerel and the toast.

Congratulations all and well judged AJ - I loved the winning pic too, fantastic markings to contrast with the toast itself, I only wish I'd thought of it!

Well done Peter, very well deserved win, and good concise judging aj! I was quietly confident when I posted my pic, but by the close I didn't think I'd be in the top three.

...are those crumbs on the mat deliberate?
Yes and no - they appeared as I worked my way through the slice, but I prefered them being there so I left them....are those crumbs on the mat deliberate?

Clarky, note that you need a half inch layer of vegemite, whereas more than a couple of millimetres of marmite can make your eyes water. I think the two pics illustrate that quite well. Thanks for the vote of confidence in my 'judging', i appreciate it. i had a hard job deciding between the top three, first it was one, then the other but this one had.... when it came down to it the 'wow' factor did it for me. if it were mine I'd try to sell it to a bible appreciation society, or sumpink.

Wow - Cant believe it, I almost got a place. Thanks A.J. Its a real boost for my concidence.
It was nice to have a subject where you could not rely on an archive (which I do not have yet).
Congratulations Peter. It would have been a star in the Patterns Comp. as well.
Well done all
Sally.
