One comment: Maybe a little unfair on the person who wins Comp 299 as they will have no chance to win the prizes.

True, but I don't know how we would get around that. The judge cannot judge their own picture as the winner....

Perhaps they could judge 301 with a designated Pentax User judging 300.

As Boyo suggests, 299 winners sets and judges 301.
You ask for 3 volunteers (who may not want to enter) to agree a topic, and judge 300. Or 3 who have not entered to judge 300 - that allows the subject choosers to enter.

Now we're getting over complicated guys - we'll just let it run as per usual I think. It worked quite happily for 100 and 200....someone will have to make the noble sacrifice. Cheer up though, it might be me!

The person who sets 300 has no chance of winning! Suggest the PU team set the subject and judge it as they stand nothing to gain.

Don't want to disturb the flow, it's just the same as the person who won 200. What you do gain is the kudos of judging a landmark competition.
It's meant to be a good thing, just a nice little bonus for the winner of 300 to mark quite an achievement in the competition's longevity.
We don't want to pinch someone's chance of doing the judging.
